Moving soon? How to sell household items in two weeks
Moving is the moment most people discover how much they own. With two weeks and a plan, you can sell what's worth selling, give away the rest and move only what you want.

Days 1–2: sort into four piles
Walk through each room once and decide quickly:
- Keep and move.
- Sell (worth the effort).
- Give away free.
- Recycle or dispose.
Days 3–4: list the big items first
Furniture and appliances take longest to sell and are hardest to move, so list them first. Mention your move date in the ad — it's an honest reason for a quick sale and tells buyers there's a deadline.
Days 5–10: list everything else in batches
Group small items into sensible bundles ("kitchen starter set", "kids' books, 20 pieces") rather than listing dozens of tiny ads. Bundles save you meetups.
Days 11–12: drop prices
Anything still unsold gets a clear price drop. Items that won't sell can go into a free listing — someone nearby is often glad to collect.
Days 13–14: give away and donate
Post remaining usable items as free, or take them to a charity shop. Keep the last day clear for the move itself.
